10 Common English Mistakes (And How to Fix Them!)

Learning English can be tricky! Here are 10 mistakes I see all the time, along with easy ways to fix them.

1. "I am agree" vs "I agree"

Wrong: I am agree with you.

Right: I agree with you.

"Agree" is already a verb - you don't need "am"!

2. "Informations" vs "Information"

Wrong: I need more informations. Right: I need more information.

"Information" is uncountable - it never gets an "s"!

3. "Since" vs "For"

Wrong: I have lived here since 5 years. Right: I have lived here for 5 years.

  • Use for + period of time (for 5 years, for 2 weeks)
  • Use since + point in time (since 2020, since Monday)

4. "Make" vs "Do"

Wrong: I need to make my homework. Right: I need to do my homework.

  • Do = tasks, work, activities (do homework, do the dishes)
  • Make = create something (make breakfast, make a mistake)

5. "Fun" vs "Funny"

Wrong: The party was very funny. Right: The party was very fun.

  • Fun = enjoyable
  • Funny = makes you laugh

Practice Makes Perfect!

Don't worry about making mistakes - that's how we learn! Keep practicing and you'll improve every day.
